DVAP - Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

If I volunteer at a DVAP Neighborhood Legal Clinic, am I obligated to take a case for representation?

Answer:

No.  DVAP needs volunteer attorneys to interview clients and provide advice at the clinics.  There is no obligation to take a case at the clinics if you participate.

Question:If I take a pro bono case, am I obligated to pay the client's court costs?
Answer:No.  Many DVAP clients qualify for an Affidavit of Inability to Pay Court Costs, which are filed with the court.  This document waives the filing fee and other court costs.
