Pro Bono Activities Committee

Pro Bono Activities:
Focuses on programs to improve the delivery of legal services to low income persons and provides assistance to legal service providers through volunteer lawyers who represent clients on a pro bono basis.

Meeting updates:

We've had good turnout at our first two meetings this year and want to keep the momentum going.  In 2013, our goal is to better fulfill PBAC’s mission by INCREASING committee participation, CONNECTING organizations seeking pro bono volunteers with Dallas-area attorneys, and EXPANDING the number of lawyers providing pro bono services to low income and disadvantaged people in our community.  You can help by doing some or all of the following:

• Show Up– for PBAC meetings, local pro bono events, other DBA activities, or local organizational events where you can promote pro bono work.
• Spend Some Time– join a subcommittee, volunteer, and do other work needed to achieve our PBAC goals, whether it’s on the committee or out in the community.  If you are willing to take pro bono cases in a particular topic area, please let us know that!!
• Spread the Word– talk to your colleagues, engage others, and increase awareness of the need for pro bono.  Personal interaction is best, but consider the social media possibilities as well.  If you use social media, please “like” or “follow” us, and encourage your friends and followers to do the same.  It's easy.  Just click on one of the logos above (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn), and that will take you directly to our page. 

Meetings:
The committee meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Belo at noon in the Strasburger room.  Next meeting is March 20.
